THE 3RD BIRTHDAY (PSP) Parasite Eve starts from 140,000

This week marked the return to Japan of a historical horror series badged SquareEnix (then Squaresoft): Parasite Eve, revived with a true third installment (after the first two on PSone) developed exclusively for Sony PSP. Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday debuted in weekly sales in sixth place, with a total of about 140,000 copies sold.

A figure all in all modest than expected, even considering that The 3rd Birthday has long figured in the rankings of "most wanted" and considering the excellent success of PSP in Japan. PSP games are just two in fact to occupy the top two places in the ranking: 3rd Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable, now launched more than three million units in less than two months, the novice adventure AKB1/48 of Bandai / Namco.

PSP2 (PSP): PSP and PS 2-Phone in the comments of Sony

Speaking to the New York Times of several innovations in the future branded Sony, Kazuo Hirai (President) PSP2 suggests that not only exists, but that most of the items that surround it are correct. In particular, Hirai said that the touch screen is not enough, it should be accompanied with traditional keys.

One of the characteristics of the new hardware, in fact, should be the simultaneous presence of both, then a solution closer to the Nintendo DS than the iPhone. Also because the same Hirai says that points to a different audience, closer to home consoles. In relation to another persistent rumor surrounding the area PSP, or smartphone dedicated to games, Hirai stops just before you confirm the existence, stating that require a very clever marketing, to avoid confusion with other products.

Share this story Share on Facebook too! Square-Enix is one of those gaming companies that really believes in the Sony handheld console license plate but also in handheld consoles in general (see NDS), despite many market analysts continue to say now that these consoles have got to the fruit and enjoy them more and less to consumers (if it did not think there would be so many sales and continue to sell games for DS and PSP), but it is not certain sales of portable consoles that I want to talk about in this article.
