Sony has confirmed that work on the successor to PlayStation 3 "has already begun." The executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sony, Masaru Kato, confirmed the news during a conference call with shareholders. "PlayStation 3 still has a lifetime ahead of him, with regard to the future platform I can not tell you when to introduce it, but the work has already begun, so the costs are included in this budget." A few months ago Kaz Hirai said that Sony had not had time yet begun to think of the new console, the plans of Sony PlayStation 3 should remain on the market for a decade, but has not ruled out that the last years of the console are characterized by the presence of two distinct platforms.
