The co-creator sues EA Madden

The man who created the very first chapter of the multi-millionaire Madden NFL Football series has sued EA for royalties not collected. According to Reuters, Robin Antonick had signed a contract with a publisher in 1986 which provided for the collection of a percentage of its receipts from sales of games on platforms other than those on which he was working at the time: Commodore 64, MS DOS and Apple II.

Despite the versions published in the last 10 years are much more complex than the original ones, Antonick insists that these are still based on the game he created and that he is entitled to this money. A lot of money. "Although over the past 20 years, today's games in the series are still derived from the Madden title developed by Antonick," reads the press release made public by his lawyers.

EA Antonick accuses him of not paid the royalties due since 1992 and has put the money lost to the extent of about $ 10 million. The figure seems high, but according to lawyers for Antonick would be small compared to the more than $ 4 billion in the year that EA would have earned from the Madden series.
