Call of Duty Elite will be a paid service?

Activision drops the ace ... According to the Wall Street Journal reported, Call of Duty Elite is not a free-to-play PC connectivity, but an online payment service that would interface especially with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the new episode Activision due out in November, and with the next chapters.

The monthly fee gives players a number of extras not present in the standard game, such as add-on packs with new maps for multiplayer mode. Activision said it had not yet decided what will be the cost of the service, but the figure could be less than that required for a subscription to Netflix, or about $ 8 a month.

Some elements of Call of Duty Elite will be free, such as Facebook-style social facets to allow players to meet and know each other before or after a game, create clans and so on. Another feature provided by the service will be represented by a set of tools for the analysis of online performance, complete with full statistics.

However, the risk of creating players' league and players of "B" for the next episodes of Call of Duty is real, and we must see what will fans of the series to meet the requirement of a further outflow, that is additional to that required for the purchase of the game and the monthly cost of subscription to Xbox Live (for Xbox 360 owners, of course).
