A comparison between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Mass Effect 2

Having it presented as an uncertain outcome "final" because it was based on the new graphics engine, Mass Effect 2 on the PlayStation 3 would seem easy to win on the now "old" edition Xbox 360. Instead, a comparison made with the careful team of Digital Foundry, the area of "technical investigators" to Eurogamer.net, revealed a very different reality: according to the website in question, the PlayStation 3 version is presented as "a curious mixture of improvements, downgrades and effect change" than the original. In general, there is no exponential improvement in every sector, but it seems rather a different version, not necessarily better than the Xbox 360.

For example, the hexagonal patterns as Miranda seem more "flat" in the PlayStation 3 version while in general the shadows on the Sony console seem more defined. Conversely, the effects of biotic powers the new PlayStation 3 version seem less defined, the framerate does not seem to be "blocked" as the Xbox 360 version alongside offering any drop to tearing and also seems to be more present in both in-game cut-scenes.

Obviously, these are opinions, although based on evidence rather than thorough and does not mean that the tested version is also representative of final quality. In any case, the value of the game itself can easily be omitted on the version disquisitions on "final" or less in Mass Effect 2.
