The sales figures for December

Xbox 360 home console stronger in the long term? 1.86 million Xbox 360 sold in December 2010, a figure not in itself very significant, except for the comparison with previous years. Apparently, in fact, Microsoft is the only console that has achieved steady growth over time, increasing the installed units by 42% compared to December 2009.

What has just ended was the most successful month for the Xbox 360. The scene of the portable console (and not) as usual, dominated by Nintendo DS, with 2.5 million units sold. It is, however, 24% less than last year. Adding data to the rest of December 2010, we have a total of 47 million DS sold, marking the passing on PlayStation 2 with regard to the U.S.

market. In December 2010 the PlayStation 3 has sold 1.21 million units, 11% in less than a year ago. Wii has instead reached 2.26 million, an astronomical amount, but that marks a 38% lower than in December 2009. Adding up all categories (hardware, software and accessories), Wii and Xbox 360 respectively occupy 32% and 31% of the market.
