The development team for Diablo III has admitted to appreciate the RPG developed by Runic Games, Torchlight. Questioned by Videogame Source on products that are inspired in some respects Diablo, Diablo III art director Christian Lichtner said: "Usually we play these titles and we love them. Torchlight played a lot, we love him." Another of the securities rated by Lichtner is the shooter developed by Gearbox, Borderlands.
"In my opinion Borderlands in some ways is inspired by Diablo. We love Borderlands," added Lichtner, before explaining how to try such titles as Torchlight can help developers of Diablo III. "It is always important. We love the games, we talk, we analyze them in terms of gameplay to understand what elements have improved.
For us it's all positive." Torchlight was developed by some of the authors of the first Diablo and keeps the different elements of role-playing game from Blizzard. On March 9, the action-RPG will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade Runic, and Torchlight II will be available on PC in June. To be announced, however, the launch date of Diablo III.
