More details on U.S. sales data for January

Wii and PlayStation 3 in fall compared to last year come new details from the monthly reports drawn up by the NPD, and in this case it seems that sales of Wii and PlayStation 3 during the month of January in the U.S. have suffered a decline over the same period of 2010. According to statements made by well-known analyst Michael Pachter to website CVG, would be 319,000 units sold in January for the Wii, or 31% less than the same month in 2010.

Much milder decline in sales for the PlayStation 3 with 267,000 units sold and a 3% less. Microsoft revealed that Xbox 360 is the only home console that can boast a sales increase from year to year: 381,000 units sold in January, marking a +14.4% over the same period last year. Considering the total number of consoles sold in January 2011, shows a decline of 10% in respect strictly the number of units, while talking to a 4% less than if we consider the revenue.

Turning to the software side, the research conducted by Piper Jaffray and Wedbush confirm the 750,000 copies sold in January for Call of Duty: Black Ops, surpassing New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii's 100,000 units circs. In third place we find Dead Space 2 with 441,000 copies sold, according to Jaffray, while the fifth position is the surprise of Zumba Fitness with more than 300,000 copies sold, according to Wedbush.

Outside the top 10, it appears that THQ has sold only 26,000 copies uDraw interesting study, after 1.2 million well-distributed to retailers. According to Wedbush, in the month of January 2011 are twenty-two games that have sold over 100,000 copies, four more than last year. Nevertheless, total sales of software accuse a 5% decrease compared to January 2010.
