Iwata describes some of the features of the Nintendo 3DS

Home button, the Memo Game, and the Friend List Notification Applet During the now famous meeting with investors, Nintendo president described the menu functions of the Home Nintendo 3DS, and some of the features available there, including Game Memo, Friend List Notification, and Applet. If you select the voice memo Game, the game will pause and displayed on the top screen while the touch screen will appear Memo.

We can therefore write notes (perhaps on a puzzle in the game) and save them to SD card as an image. We know that Friend Codes are back on 3DS, but this time Nintendo has included a Friend List to see who our friends are online and what is playing. It will be possible to block our status online if we do not want friends to know what we're doing, though.

When a friend is online, the LED light will turn orange 3DS. The Notification Applet eventually need to get the latest news and transfers SpotPass StreetPass. When we receive something new, the applet icon on the Home menu will change, while the LED light will flash when the transfers take place (with the console in Sleep Mode).
