How much will Call of Duty: Elite?

Call of Duty: Elite would cost around five dollars a month, some analysts believe. "From the point of view of the potential of the service, our surveys indicate that Call of Duty: Elite could reach a percentage of the users of the new Call of Duty between 10 and 20%," says Jesse Divnich of EEDAR, according to the which the price of service will be $ 4.99 per month.

"Translated, this means 2-4 million subscribers in twelve months and probably 1.5 million subscribers by the end of 2011." Michael Pachter, assuming a subscription of 50-60 dollars per year (4.16-5 dollars per month) provides one million subscribers by the end of 2011 and two million new subscribers each year.

Elite will provide some extra pay, but the online play of Call of Duty will remain free: a wise move by Activision, analysts agree. "The online payment would have alienated fans by killing the franchise," says Doug Creutz of Cowen. "You can not start to charge for something you have long provided for free." Call of Duty: Elite will debut in November with Modern Warfare 3.
