Still unclear how they gained access to user data Spanish police have arrested a hacker who had taken possession of sensitive data of thousands of people had tried to blackmail and Nintendo. According to the BBC, the man was able to access the accounts of four thousand players. It is not clear, however, if the account has done in violation of the Nintendo Wii Shop from the network or one belonging to third parties.
After the theft of data, the hacker has contacted Nintendo accusing it of neglect and threatened to report the fact if he had not fulfilled its requirements. Having received no feedback, began publishing the data online for some users. Spanish police arrested him in Malaga, before it could spread all the data in its possession.
