Free Realms at an altitude of 100 million?

According to Sony Online Entertainment, the free MMO Free Realms could reach 100 million users, with a "virtually unlimited support from the younger audience." Currently the share is still far away but we are well advanced. Since its release on PC in 2009, Free Realms has captured the hearts of as many as 17 million users.

Just this week the game is also coming on PS3, but only in the USA. "It may take still another 5 or 6 years, but I do not see why we should not be able to reach 100 million players," said the president of SOE, John Smedley, in an interview with GamesIndustry. biz. "There are plenty of guys who can not wait to get my hands on a product such as Free Realms.

They are completely different audience than that of adults and it is just that this game is for." "To reach a goal so ambitious, however, we must continue to improve Free Realms. The game has evolved over the years, always offering something new." "One of our longest-running game, EverQuest, has just turned 12 years old.

I do not see why the same should not happen with Free Realms." Currently the record for most number of registered users it is for RuneScape, a free browser-MMO that can boast as many as 140 million fans around the world. Smedley, unfortunately, has not announced a launch date for the European Free Realms, except to say that "this is taking some 'time after the U.S.

launch."
