GameStop tip on tablet

After the record sales and the acquisition of Impulse, GameStop is preparing to enter the business of the tablet. In an interview with Gamasutra (via VG247), the president of GameStop, Tony Bartel said that the company's digital strategies lead to the tablet. "If our partners do not guarantee a perfect tablet for video games with a bluetooth controller, we have to create one," says Bartel, according to which the explosion of the tablet is imminent: "We believe we can become leaders in this sector.

As has happened for PC games, will soon begin to develop immersive titles for tablet and someone will offer these games to consumers. We can lead this segment. " "Consumers are making purchases hybrids, on a physical medium and digital format, so we are becoming a hybrid company." With streaming service Spawn Labs, GameStop would like to offer a service similar to OnLive for the distribution of console games on other devices.

The company claims to have demonstrated to shareholders titles such as LittleBigPlanet and Halo: Reach streamed on the tablet. With digital distribution GameStop might include other branches of the entertainment industry, for example the cinema? "We focus exclusively on games," says Bartel.

"This is our nature. We have no intention to enter into the business of streaming movies."
