PS4 and Xbox 720 "not before 2014"

According to Kotaku, sources close to Sony and Microsoft have confirmed the desire of the two manufacturers to launch next-generation consoles not before 2014. "Microsoft and Sony are contacting each other and agree on the need to further exploit the present generation and to postpone the launch of next-gen platforms," stated one source, while according to other sources in 2013, Microsoft could launch an updated Xbox 360 Kinect.

"Without a doubt, Sony will launch a new console before 2014 and could benefit from an early launch by Microsoft, through which would strengthen its position in Europe and North America," says M2 Research analyst Billy Pidgeon. "According to Microsoft developers can push past Xbox 360, but in terms of performance the PS3 could have a major advantage." "I do not think that Microsoft and Sony are interested in launching a new console without innovations in technology, and they certainly do not want to debut with hardware that has a price of 600 dollars," said Michael Pachter.

"Probably we will have to wait until 2014 to have 2 terabyte hard drive, ultra fast CPU and graphics at an exceptional price of 400 dollars." According to rumor, however, Nintendo could cross the threshold of the next-gen already in 2012, the presentation of the Wii's successor could come in the next E3.
