The Wii controller for a single U will not push up costs

Nintendo does not want to drive up the overall cost of the console to the end user. Many have wondered why the Wii will come with support for U one controller. Nintendo has finally revealed the mystery: it is a problem of costs. In reality, the console could handle four controllers simultaneously (as with the Wii remote controls), but the single controller to be purchased separately would have a high price, which in fact would increase too much the total price for the end user.

In the future, if the market allows it, Nintendo is planning to re-evaluate this choice. Currently is possible to convince users to deal with the extra demand. Source: Destructoid
