In recent days, news has emerged that seemed to presage an opening of Ubisoft in respect of the players, in many cases opposed to a DRM that requires a permanent Internet connection. As reported by PC Gamer, in fact, some players would be able to play the PC version of Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell: Conviction with the network connection disabled.
The publisher, however, has cooled the enthusiasm and said that decisions will be made on a case by case basis. Possible, Ubisoft made it known that the PC version of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood uses the version of DRM that requires the permanent connection and not just focus after launching the game.
The DRM has been adopted since last April with the launch of The Settlers 7. Ubisoft's no secret that one of the goals of the company is to combat piracy on the PC, but also adds that the system offers significant added value to the consumer as it can play from any PC, among other things.
