According to analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan in the last episode of Pach-Attack! (Via VG247), by 2030 all games will be distributed through cloud services. "The business will become important over the next three or four years," says Pachter. "In 2015, the cloud has got a large chunk of the market in 2020 50% of the games will cloud while in 2030 100% of the cloud-based business will be." According to Pachter, the new distribution model will jeopardize the business of dealers, while the poorer sectors at risk of being cut off from the hobby due to the death of the market.
Publishers and developers, however, should improve earnings thanks to the cloud. Pachter also spoke of the loss of importance of Japan, consists of publishers who become "Semra smaller and insignificant. They tried to adapt content to the Japanese market in Western Europe, but have failed and now they are afraid to repeat the mistake." After citing the case of the Vanquish, a quality game that had no commercial success outside of Japan, Japan Pachter suggests that the industry will increasingly turn to the internal market.
"In any case, the Japanese market is not growing," says the analyst.
