Ubisoft has admitted to feeling guilty about not being able to exploit Beyond Good & Evil. "Everyone knows that Beyond Good & Evil did not have the success it deserved and indeed all feel guilty for this situation in part," said a source on Videogame producer of HD remake of the game originally released in 2003.
For this reason the company decided to focus on the version coming in a few days later on PSN and XBLA, tells Wang Xu. "Since we had the goal of creating an HD remake well finished, regardless of time and resources required by the project. And it was nice to see the mobilization of society to ensure that the IP recognition it deserves" .
Xu also revealed that Michel Ancel, creator of the game, it was not directly involved in the project but has repeatedly checked the status of the work. "Miche has been very clear about his requirements. He insisted on having a frame rate of 60fps because it considers part of next-gen HD experience complete." The producer of the remake would have liked to propose a Director's Cut version with some changes to the gameplay, the game collector's edition, enriched by original title, but eventually the company decided to leave unchanged the gaming experience.
"Compared to the past we have fans who support us and who can share with others their passion for the game. And Beyond Good & Evil has aged well, in my opinion is one of the best adventure games out there. It has timeless quality, and already in 2003 that those standards would be achieved only with the next-gen ".
