Digital PC market in the hands of Valve

The PC games in digital format to create a turnover of four billion dollars, and 70% of the market is currently in the hands of Valve's digital service platform, Steam, according to a study. Steam is "tremendously profitable," said co-founder of Valve's Gabe Newell to Forbes. Last October, Valve announced that the number of accounts registered on the digital platform had increased by 178% last year. During the same period, sales volume has increased by 200% while the number of games with Steamworks functionality has exceeded 200. There are currently about 30 million Steam accounts receivable more than 1200 downloadable games service.

Every day, more than six million unique users accessing the service. According to Forbes, the publisher obtained using Steam a gross margin of 70% compared to 30% that characterizes the business is based on traditional retailers.
