Sony has announced that it has sold 150 million PlayStation 2 worldwide since the console launched ten years and eleven months ago. Available in Japan from March 2000, PlayStation 2 is the best selling console of all time. At the end of December 2010, the number of games for the PlayStation 2 sold around the world had reached 1.52 billion units.
The best-selling title is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with 17.33 million units. Behind him, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec with 14.89 million copies, the fourth Gran Turismo 4 with 10.76 million units. In total 10,828 games developed for the platform. Sony expects to keep the business alive in the markets of Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, Middle East and South America.
