In recent years the roles of the two teams that have dealt with the Call of Duty series have always been well defined: Treyarch developed games based on past conflicts, as Infinity Ward took care of episodes set in the near future. This rigid division, however, may fall in the future. "It would be great to develop a Call of Duty set in the near future," says Treyarch's game design director, David Vonderhaar, in an interview with Machinima.
Vonderhaar says that Treyarch could develop a new Call of Duty set in the future, even if the decision is complicated. " "We have announced new games in the series Call of Duty, but personally I'd like to develop an episode set in the future. I speak only for myself, anyway." After Black Ops, Activision should throw Modern Warfare 3.
According to rumors, because of the reconstruction of Infinity Ward, the publisher would have entrusted the development of the game with three developers: the "new" Infinity Ward and Raven Software Games Sledgehammer.
