EA has announced that about a half million players have expressed an interest in taking part in a beta of the much potential MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. According to what reported by Gamasutra, during a shareholders' meeting, Eric Brown, CFO of the company, stated that this would be "a substantial figure, which demonstrates the public interest in the franchise." Brown added, however, that EA is to a much wider audience, and that the projections of the share on a sales target of about 12 million potential consumers.
"Our goal is to create a gaming experience that can be so attractive in the eyes of fans as well as those of potential newcomers to the category and the world of Star Wars." "If we do that our potential audience will exceed 12 million individuals." During the presentation, Brown has also suggested that the title should come to market in a period between July and December.
