Criterion Games will not produce a game per year

Electronic Arts has decided to give the team time to develop new titles Criterion Games, responsible for the excellent Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, will not be forced by EA to produce a new title every year. The strategy of the giant California provides for alternating team for the NFS franchise, with this year's episode, The Run, run by Black Box.

This Criterion will give ample time to work calmly in a new Need for Speed to be published in November 2012. "Forcing Criterion to develop a game a year would be the worst idea possible," said EA's boss, Frank Gibeau, speaking to Eurogamer. "This would limit their creativity and, consequently, the quality of their work." Give the teams two years to build a new episode of Need for Speed is best, according to Gibeau.

The sharing of technology within the various teams working for Electronic Arts also makes it possible to implement a whole new set of elements. "We tried to put into practice new ideas in The Run, by entering alternative sections to the guide to maintain the high standards achieved by Hot Pursuit.

We have an important opportunity to share technological resources within EA, the new Need for Speed for example using the Frostbite 2.0 and we are using the system of EA Sports branded entertainment for parties that do not take place at the helm. "L ' EA's goal, according to Gibeau, is to use the best technology on the market, from all points of view, to offer more than any other manufacturer.

The Frostbite, developed by DICE, will allow them to do a lot of great things in this sense, in a wide variety of genres: from action to drive, passing by the shooter. Source: Eurogamer
