Tetsuya Nomura talks about the characters, the story of the battle system and much more in an interview with the director of Famitsu Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Tetsuya Nomura has revealed new details about the story, characters, battle system and the game mechanics of the new action RPG Square Enix weblog.
Story and characters as shown in several trailers, the story begins with a sequence that sees Noctis and his driver in the car, turn on a highway, so there is a discourse between the character and Stella before a fight. Apart from the scene by car, the graphics are all calculated in real time.
Among the factors to be noted, outstanding character design, which should be the final (items included). Among the characters, Ignis is the only team member whose name is Noctis been confirmed. The functions they perform are mostly tactical, in practice it's a sort of adviser. The man with the scar on his face does not have a name, however, but should be a childhood friend and Noctis Ignis, while the character is blond purchase of a new group.
The story sees the empire of Niflheim invade the country of Noctis, with the latter and his companions engaged in a fierce defense of the roads and boundaries of their land. There are still variations on the theme, as set during the past few sections of the protagonist. Battle System The battle system sees the characters move with great speed, double jump and perform a wide range of actions.
Apparently, the mechanics should be similar to those adopted by the Kingdom Hearts battle system, with the characters that run independently after the maneuvers that we have selected. The game features in addition to the indicators of health, but Nomura has not yet revealed features. The icons that represent the other team members are always visible and warn us of the situation in which they are located, so that we can react quickly to any emergencies.
The game will also be evocations, you can use the Magitek Armor and even ride the Chocobo: all the traditional elements of Final Fantasy should be included. The use of magic, however, will be subject to the presence of Noctis, the character who serves in practice from the mystical connection to their peers.
Established a maximum of three characters for the party, the role of Noctis is still central: If he dies, it is game over. It can therefore move freely from one character to another or stay on Noctis throughout the game. Will include several weapons: swords, axes, spears and firearms of all types.
Each will provide a different approach to the fighting, but can range Noctis: the other characters will have to settle for a single type of weapon. Ignis, for example, specializes in attacks of support, is skilled with magic, but can also throw knives and other weapons to use. The trailer wields a katana.
The person with the scar on his face fighting with bare hands if necessary, but wielding large weapons such as clubs or swords in both hands. The blond character is instead a sort of sniper, use firearms of any kind and can rely on a manual aiming system (where Noctis is bound by the auto-aiming) to hit the weak points of enemies.
In Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be no attacks by the group, but Nomura said that you can concatenate the offensive operations in order to achieve a similar effect. Areas and worlds in the game we will enjoy great freedom of movement, but will be in the same way numerous predetermined sequences (still not clear if they will work as QTE or will be fully automatic), which Nomura describes as "gimmick".
The world of Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be full of huge and powerful enemies, both in urban settings than in suburban ones. Speaking of scenarios, many of them will boast a large number of interactive objects, particularly those that allow people to move to different areas (such as the emergency stairs leading to the roof of a building).
The extension of the locations will be considerable, so that even if Nomura was surprised, and will be implemented a day-night cycle. Source: Adriansang Final Fantasy Versus XIII - Trailer 2011
