In reality it was known for some time, but now there is definitive proof Destructoid has tried to circumvent the region lock for the Nintendo 3DS without much luck. Unfortunately, the test finally confirmed that those who love to import games from Japan or the USA, will necessarily have to buy consoles to play with that region lock.
The cartridges inserted into a console with a region lock does not match, are not recognized by the system which simply does not show anything. Too bad, this is a step backwards compared to what happened with the Nintendo DS (also because not all games are distributed in all territories, take for example many of Atlus JRPG released only in America and Japan).
