The right model is Team Fortress 2 In an interview with Develop, Gabe Newell explained that Valve will embrace the model increasingly Team Fortress 2. Valve is studying how to benefit from being in constant contact with customers. Newell has surpassed the stage set of the episodes (so no Half-Life 2: Episode 3?) And made it clear that the reference model is that of Team Fortress 2, or the implementation of frequent updates from shorter production cycles.
The next way to turn in this direction will be the series Left 4 Dead, which probably will be united in a single title, while for Portal 2 Valve is considering user feedback on it. This does not mean that Valve will not make larger projects and, indeed, Gabe has confirmed that the gamers will see more games made by major companies (Half-Life 3?).
