The boss of Valve, Gabe Newell, has denied rumors that Portal 2 would be the last Valve game with single player campaign. During an interview with Reddit, Newell said that Valve does not want to delete the single player but enrich it with social functionality. "The entertainment value is enhanced by the social component and connectivity.
We're trying to say this, that no single player will remove from our games." "The single-player is great but you'll definitely want friends and connect with them. So do not think the elimination of the single-player, but to improve it with features typical of the player connected to the network." "All the players use an instant messaging service, everyone has a Facebook profile.
If you pretend that these things do not exist are ignoring a problem that you face and we can talk about single player plus, not its absence."
