343 Industries talks about the future of Halo

During an interview with the magazine Official Xbox Magazine, Frank O'Connor of 343 Industries said it is currently not scheduled for any spin-off series Halo. "I can tell you that when we're not working on secondary stories," said O'Connor. "Certainly, the Halo universe will be enriched with new stories, but at the moment we have nothing to announce." After the agreement between Bungie and Activision, the series has been orphaned of its creators.

The latest episodes have been the spin-off Halo 3: ODST and the prequel to Halo: Reach, but probably many are still awaiting the return of Master Chief, in stand-by since 2007 when Halo 3 brought the series on Microsoft's Xbox 360. "I think fans of the series are waiting for answers, and no doubt we will give them to him," says O'Connor.

"But it would be lazy on our part to raise new questions without providing answers." Halo 4 in production, then? Perhaps it is too early to tell, but in the meantime, fans of the series will mark the tenth anniversary of Master Chief's universe. "In 2011 marks the tenth anniversary of Halo and make sure to bring new stories and new content to fans of the series.

In 2011, debuting the first of three novels by Greg Bear, then there will be new information on the novels by Karen Traviss. As for games, however, O'Connor says at least two sets of maps for the latest installment of the series developed by Bungie, Halo: Reach.
