Class3 announced for XBLA

One of the creators of World of Warcraft, Jeff Strain, unveiled his new project: a zombie-based horror shooter for Xbox Live Arcade, a project which is to be as open world game and then become an MMO. Developed by Undead Labs and published by Microsoft Game Studios, the game of Strain is currently indicated by the code name Class3.

Infection has decimated the population of the planet, and players must work together to repel the hordes of zombies that infest the universe of the game. However, unlike titles such as Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead, the goal is to eliminate the greatest number of zombies, Strain says. "It is not simply going around the streets shooting at the zombies in the head," said the founder of the study Videogame Source.

"Of course, the mechanics will be present but not enough for us. The key for us is survival." Although the goal of developers is to push the game into the MMO genre, Strain prefer to continue talking about an open world action game, a genre much more popular on the console: "We did not use the tag in our MMO press releases, "says the developer.

"We want to bring up console the most interesting aspects of virtual worlds. But if we talk about it immediately thinks of all MMO World of Warcraft, while we are doing something different. We prefer to speak of a universe of online gaming." "First of all we will try to offer an experience that captures the essence of resistance against infection.

Then we will use the platform to turn the game into a complete online world, taking advantage of feedback from players." "We chose this two-step process because we want to bring the game to users as soon as possible. We want to make sure we make a rapid transition from the open-world action game Class3 Class4 online universe," says Strain, according to which unlikely the game will be ready in 2011.

"We think that building the first platform Class3 in terms of locations, gameplay and technology, we halve the time usually required for the development of an online world."
