Profits for Sony with PlayStation 3

The increase in sales of PlayStation 3 games and the reduction of hardware costs for PlayStation 3 has enabled the Networked Products and Services division of Sony to close the quarter ended Dec. 31 last year with 45.7 billion yen in profit. Compared to the same quarter last year, sales fell by 6.4%, but the number of PlayStation 3 by Sony sold during the fiscal year, three months after its completion, has already surpassed the sales of ' Sony's flagship in previous years.

In the last quarter Sony sold 6.3 million consoles, but these are the platforms 15 million sold worldwide during the fiscal year (13 million in twelve months last year). PlayStation Portable, which in the same quarter last year allowed Sony to sell 4.2 million units, but share has reached 3.6 million units in Q3, while sales of PlayStation 2 are in line with those of last year (2.1 million units ).

The number of games sold by Sony PlayStation 3 is changed from 47.6 million to 57.6 million, also increasing sales of software for the PSP from 15 million to 16.5 million, as sales of Adrenaline for PlayStation 2 games, from 11.2 million to 5.3 million .
