According to a new study, 54% of global illegal sharing of games takes place in five countries: Italy, France, Spain, China and Brazil. The survey, conducted by the U.S. Entertainment Software Association and reported by Gamasutra claims that 33 countries are included in the list of countries not taking adequate security measures to combat copyright infringement.
According to the ESA study, the circulation of pirated games in the five mentioned countries reached levels "extraordinarily high", with 78 million peer-to-peer world recorded a total of 144 million. "Our industry continues to grow in the U.S. but piracy hinders growth in many countries including Italy, China, Spain, Brazil and France," said association president Michael Gallagher.
Spain, according to the study, it is still characterized by a culture overly permissive with regard to piracy, while Italy and Brazil are moving to solve the problem.
