Jon Hare clarify their statements on innovation in the FPS

The genre has not changed over the last twenty years? Jon Hare, CEO of Tower Games, has recently stated that the FPS genre has not evolved fundamentally in the last twenty years. A phrase that has caused obvious reaction from the fans, so that Hare has felt obliged to clarify its position to the microphones to Eurogamer.

"My criticism relates to the relatively low innovation coming from the FPS genre since the days of Wolfenstein," he explained. "It's always games based on the same mechanism, which to me as a game designer but also to many other people have come to boredom, unless you see the issue from the perspective of a level designer." "Considering the progress made by all other genres in recent years during a period when many new trends are born on an annual basis (Populous, Lemmings, Cannon Fodder, etc..), I believe that my criticisms were valid," he continued .

Jon Hare was afraid that people might misinterpret his words, meaning that no game, then not only the FPS has ever developed basically for two decades. "It might seem that those saying that all games are m * rda only because I have ceased to produce evidence of success. This is not true, and is also an insult to the hundreds of brilliant and innovative games that have been created in recent twenty years.
