An extraordinary success for an independent production Minecraft has been very successful so far, and this has clearly happened product revenues. However today it was not clear what we were talking about figures. The creator of the game, Marcus Persson, admitted that Minecraft has generated "a lot" of money, but added that the bulk of revenues ends up in an account that tries to peek at the least, and that he currently receives a salary standard.
The first alpha version of the game has sold 800 thousand copies at a price of € 9.95, while the current beta version has scored more than one million copies at a price of € 14.95, according to Persson. Gamasutra has calculated that total revenues could amount to 23 or even $ 33 million to date.
Persson is keen to stress that not all the money goes directly to him, since there are various costs including commissions, taxes and so on, but it is still very respectable figures, especially considering the independent nature of the project. Source: VG247
