And crash! Hard times may loom for pirates on the PlayStation 3: According to a report of Digital Foundry, every PS3 connected to the Internet and do not need to log into PSN account with a Sony server sends an initial packet of information. This information is not currently known, but probably contain codes identifying the console that will determine the possible presence of illegal software installed or used on the console in question.
What Sony is going to do with this information is the subject of debate: the illegal use of pirated software could lead simply to ban from the console's online service but according to Digital Foundry could be even worse consequences. In a particularly alarming (at least for the players voted to the Jolly Roger), a manufacturer could even halt the console with jailbreak remote rendering them unusable.
