Games for Windows Live: Microsoft says the mea culpa

During an interview with CVG, senior producer for the Games For Windows, Kevin Unangst, acknowledged the problems of Microsoft's PC portal. "When we launched the service we had the best intentions, or bring Achievements, friends list, multiplayer matchmaking and quality on the PC. However, I think we had trouble because we designed the service as a partner of the other party console, not as a service dedicated to the PC.

" "Also we have not supported with the most important thing, or the development of excellent games that make use of its functionality. A network alone has no value, it needs great games." "I think what they did to Xbox Live with Halo Bungie and Microsoft. On the PC Age of Empire's team has done a lot, and so Lionhead.

I believe that the foundations are solid and the service in future will be even better. We have launched a New Marketplace, we also sell Live compatible games and other developers seem interested. Epic has finally launched well with Live Bulletstorm. I am satisfied with the platform and the service is intended to grow.
