It is strengthening the legal battle which is between the Korean manufacturer LG and Sony regarding the use of Blu-ray on PlayStation 3. As reported by The Guardian, The Hague court order imposed in a block imports of Sony PlayStation 3 in the old continent for ten days. If LG does win the case, the ban could be extended, and Sony could be forced to pay a share to LG for each PlayStation 3 sold.
But there are other possible negative scenarios for Sony, which in turn has taken similar legal action to block the sale of LG smartphone in the United States. According to The Guardian, tens of thousands of consoles have been taken into custody by Dutch customs officials in recent days and if the situation does not unlock the console stocks may run out in two or three weeks.
Sony will target presumably the European patent office, but the same could be done LG, which in the case of recognition of their rights could extend the ban. "We are working on the issue but at present we can not comment," said a Sony spokesman. LG would not comment.
