Iwata: The 3DS sold below expectations

Continuing revelations during the conference with investors during a conference with some investors, Satoru Iwata, in addition to stating that Nintendo wants to improve relations with third party developers (LINK) and that there will be at E3 2011 Super Mario Bros. 3DS ( LINK), also said that the Nintendo 3DS sold under the company's expectations.

Since its launch, the console has sold 3.61 million units, or 400 thousand less the objectives of the Big N. Despite the great start, the console has lost ground in all markets during the second week of marketing. Iwata mentioned the recent earthquake that struck Japan as one of the problems of the console, but said he does not want to use it as an excuse and that there were other challenges that have not gone as planned.

His commitment and Nintendo in general is to work to grow the popularity of 3DS to best deal with the summer season. Source: Joystiq
