PSN user data at risk

In an update on the PlayStation Network published on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has admitted that because of a attack on the company's server the personal data of users may be at risk. All account holders of PSN, Sony is sending a warning e-mail that states: "We found that between 17 and 19 April 2011, certain account information of users of services PlayStation Network and Qriocity has been compromised in relation to illegal and unauthorized intrusion into our system.

" Sony claims to have "temporarily disabled services PlayStation Network and Qriocity; hired an outside agency responsible for security, to conduct a thorough and extensive investigation into what happened, immediately took measures to improve security and strengthen the infrastructure of our network, rebuilding the entire system to provide greater protection of your personal information.

" "As we investigate the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized party has obtained the following information you previously provided: name, address (city, state / province, postal code), country, email address, birth date, password , login and online PSN ID / laptop. It is also possible that the data in your profile have been identified, including purchase history and billing address (city, state / province, postal code).
