After the demobilization of the Guitar Hero series, Activision has an ax to cut down on another IP Music, DJ Hero. The CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg said that the entire division of the publisher involved in the business of music games goes to the closing. Yet to define the future developer of DJ Hero, Freestyle Games, and to Vicarious Visions for the moment the company merely confirms the dismissal of 500 employees as part of a restructuring process.
"Although the average rating of 92 for DJ Hero 2, the positive reception for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and an average rating of around 90 for our rivals, the market for music-based games devices crashed to dramatic levels "says Hirshberg. "Given the costs of production and licensing associated with the genre, at present we simply can not make profits from this business." "Rather, we will concentrate our financial resources and marketing content for download while the user base grows." The support of the Guitar Hero series publisher should also be stepped up through the DLC.
