Some information from the producer Patrick Bach, a producer engaged DICE on Battlefield 3, confirmed that the third installment of the military will use dedicated servers for multiplayer online. The thing probably satisfy fans of the game and online experience, as the issue of having dedicated servers is definitely frowned upon by the gaming community for the greater reliability of the online platform.
Bad news for the community, however, comes at the front of the mod: Bach specified that DICE will not release mod tools, at least initially, for the game. Battlefield 2 with the development team immediately provided support for the creation of levels from users, but what about the third chapter it seems that the long time required for the development of the tool is not compatible with the pace of work on the game and with delivery times.
Of course, this does not mean that these tools are released at a later time. Source: Joystiq
