Blizzard celebrates 20 years

Blizzard celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the company with a movie in which two of the three founders of the developer of World of Warcraft, Michael Morhaime and Frank Pearce, greeted fans of games made by Blizzard. "When we founded the company in 1991 we were only three. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all, without your support we would never be able to do this," said Morhaime.

"In the future we want to exceed your expectations with new content," he adds. Blizzard was founded as Silicon & Synapse, and between 1992 and 1993 he published Battle Chess (1992), The Lost Vikings (1992) and Rock N 'Roll Racing (1993). In 1994 the company changed its name to Blizzard and this year released the first Warcraft, a PC RTS.

In 1997 it was the turn of Diablo, in 1998 to StarCraft. In 2010, Blizzard released the first chapter of the trilogy of StarCraft II and the expansion of World of Warcraft, Cataclysm, the company's next game will be Diablo III, a new chapter of StarCraft II and indicated with an MMO code-named Titan.

According to the findings of an internal document from Blizzard, the company had scheduled the launch of Diablo III in the second quarter of 2011, an expansion of StarCraft II and presumably the second chapter of the trilogy. In 2012 however, the service Battle. net is also open to third party, a move that could put Blizzard in direct competition with Steam, Valve's digital service.

Waiting in 2012 another expansion for World of Warcraft and the film dedicated MMO. In 2013, Blizzard would have the third and final chapter of StarCraft II and Diablo III expansion. At the end of the year the company plans to publish a new expansion for World of Warcraft and the launch and presentation of the new MMO, code-named Titan.
