Need for Speed: The Run

If, like me, have always felt an uncontrollable attraction to the racing game, whether arcade or simulation, you will be pleased to know that at this very hour Electronic Arts has formalized the development of Need for Speed: The Run. The title, expected on 3DS, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 Nov. 18, will not be a direct sequel or Shift or Hot Pursuit 2, but on the contrary, inspired by the world of street racing, will be a net return to the roots for the brand.

And guess what 'what does that mean? But it is obvious heart-pounding chases, freeways clogged with traffic and police at his heels, all in critical situations to 300 kilometers per hour. The game, currently in the hands of Black Box, a software company that took over the franchise from 2002 to 2008, will be moved by Frostbite 2.0, new version of the popular weblog DICE graphics engine (which, among other things, is the same as that Battlefield 3, which since its announcement has done nothing but impress technically) and, as expected, will also use the now inevitable Autolog, which has become a distinctive feature of the entire brand since the launch of Hot Pursuit.

The brief but intense teasers that you can see just below, suggests that the title is intended to impress, not only for cutting a very spectacular, but also for the variety of locations in which we are presumably asked to dart with our race cars . At the moment it seems that the experience will take place in North America from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Empire State Building, or at least that is what it can be assumed on the basis of desert, mountains and the names of places and cities that can be seen in the video ( Denver, New York and San Francisco, Nevada and California) but have not ruled out surprises in this regard.

The developers have also hinted that there will be some plot behind the stages of the Run guidance stating that propose a "very compelling story" in "a world without rules, and especially speed limits." Beyond the name of the protagonist, Jack, and his presumed relationship with the charming woman who is seen briefly in the teaser, the current information, however, verging on zero.

At the moment it is therefore too early to say too much about what might be the potential of the product, but one thing seems certain: the children of Black Box and we are determined to surprise us, for our part, we can only hope to succeed in their aim!
