A competitor in the market to Nintendo? During the last session of Q & A with investors Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has talked about many topics, as mentioned earlier yesterday. Among these is the growth of social and / or mobile game, and in particular that may or may not share the same platform as the market for a Nintendo DS or the new 3DS.
Iwata said that in his view the relationship between the rise in popularity of mobile game, especially for smartphones like the iPhone, and the simultaneous decline in sales of titles for the Nintendo DS was just random. According to him, in fact, there would be no witness evidence of a link between the two phenomena.
Nintendo has made a series of studies in Japan and the U.S. in this respect, to understand which players are wrestling with the social game, have a smartphone and use it to play. Such studies have indeed shown that the owners of the Nintendo DS did not stop playing with the console to engage in a smartphone.
In contrast, the opposite seems to have been a step or smartphone user who is dedicated to gaming on the Nintendo DS. The analysis would cover the purchase of the games as well as their use, outlining a framework is not sensational in respect of the Nintendo DS in Japan but is not related to mobile gaming.
Looking at the numbers of research carried out by Nintendo, ultimately, does not show an impact on sales of the Nintendo DS hardware or software caused by the rise in popularity of mobile / social gaming. Source: Nintendo
