"Data users will not re-sold to Sony"

Sony has denied rumors that the information from some credit card users of the PSN would be resold. "A rumor about a group that would attempt to sell to Sony numbers of millions of credit cards," writes Patrick Seybold of Sony's PlayStation Blog. "As far as I know, this is not true." "Passwords are stored encrypted, but were not processed by the cryptographic hash function", also says Seybold.

"For a description of the differences of the various techniques, you can follow this link," he added. Over the next few days Sony should gradually restore the services of the PlayStation Network.
